Basically, his is one of those names that need no introduction for whoever (and that's my case, and the case of many others) likes glam photography. Color in his photography often plays a major role and, under this respect, photography partakes of an alchemic * tradition: nigredo (black), albedo (white), rubedo (red) and citrinitas (yellow) aren't, in fact, but alchemic terms that underline this age-long fascination with the color as something essential to any process, from the chemistry of the Mendelevian * elements to that of our inner and psychological sense and sensibility. When color starts taking the lead with photography, it is like a way of reminding us that the rainbow that seals the Alliance is not something merely speculative that an old fashioned book like the Bible, or quaint guys like the alchemists, were handing down to us as a speculation without purpose, but as something that was worth instituting as a legacy because it resounds in our souls with an effect and a meaning that is real and no longer speculation. And when an immensely talented photographer as Peter Langone makes of color (no, better: of the mastery of color) in photography a relevant element of his art, it is because advertently or inadvertently he partakes of that tradition - for when we speak of art, and Peter Langone's photos are art by all accounts, doing things intentionally or not is irrelevant: in fact as C. G. Jung reminded us "Vocatus atque non vocatus deus aderit": "Called or not called, the god will be there" (Oracle of Delphi). Color in Peter Langone's work can well be a reminder (Vocatus atque non vocatus) that immemorial symbols like the following have a meaning: Peter Langone's photos are also a way to establish a reminder not to God, but to us the onlookers of a mundane age, that the covenant is real, and that it has a meaning as vivid, as vital, as explosive like the explosion of hues in his photos - we cannot think that a God could be less vibrant than we can be, and if you ask me how much vibrant, here is my answer, and Peter Langone's one: not less than his photos. Beholding them is like beholding a fragment of paradise. Over the years Peter Langone's photography is reported as having sparked international interest with over 250 awards and 100's of television appearances, lectures, and TV spots. Peter has created photography for thousands of advertising campaigns such as Coca-Cola, Anheuser Busch, Fox Sports, AT&T, Delta Airlines, Bacardi, and has directed numerous music videos, and television commercials. Watch a few examples of his photos and decide yourself whether he doesn't look terrific and absolutely cool - precision plus fantasy, he attacks the onlooker using hind and fore nails! Absolutely adaptable to any situation, photographer Peter Langone's single expertise is that he can do it all. His keen understanding of the business side of the market has taken him from humble New York beginnings to a thriving enterprise in the Floridian paradise of Miami. I was born in NY and live in FL." which I guess amounts to this: I have been both clever and lucky enough to be able to do as a job what I would have liked to do if I could afford not working at all. |
